The existence of Sea Toll helps to bring equal distribution of goods and services in remote areas of the country as well as increase the trend of ship cargo overtime.
The Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya Sumadi revealed that in the last 10 years the Sea Highway has 191 routes. He added that the Sea Toll Road currently also has 677 stopover ports with growth of 11 percent per year. Quoted from Budi Karya Sumadi,
“One of the indications that really provides a good opportunity for development in eastern Indonesia, we have carried out the sea highway for 10 years. Currently, there are a total of 191 total routes with growth of 11 percent per year.”
The growth of Sea Toll resulted in the total number of passengers reached 5.9 million with a growth of 13 percent per year. Meanwhile, the total cargo of goods reached 1,058,759.
